WEave:HERE

WEave: HERE is a movement, projection and image-based interactive art performance and installation.

Lead artist and choreographer Rosy Simas (Seneca) directs performers in sculptural costumes, highlighted by projection, as they move through the crowd in a procession along Franklin Avenue. The hour-long performance moves to an installation curated by Heid E. Erdrich (Ojibwe) and Jonathan Thunder (Ojibwe).

For Simas, this Northern Spark performance is an iteration of her ongoing project Weave, drawn from the interwoven and interdependent nature of our world.

Before and after the procession, artists at the courtyard-like installation space west of All My Relations gallery invite participants to engage movement with light and shadow. In the same area, participants can join in a word-based activity related to art that represents the many Native nations with ties to the neighborhood. WEave:Here activities are lead by performer Sam Mitchell, youth artist Hema Patel, and artists Heid E. Erdrich, Jonathan Thunder, and guest Andrea Carlson.

Director: Rosy Simas. Music: François Richomme. Production: Christopher J. Fleming. Performers: Judy Shui Xian, Erin Drummond, Sam Johnson, Pedro Pablo Lander, Valerie Oliveiro, Sharon Picasso, Rosy Simas, Jeffrey Wells, and Taja Will.
