Have Gun Will Shoot, a dance and media work exploring patriotism, duty, power, betrayal and the fog of war.March 1st, 2nd, 3rd & 4th, 2007. The Ritz Theater: 345 13th Ave NE, Minneapolis
Read audience responses from the January 2006 show.

"Rosy Simas Guthrie wraps herself up in the stars and stripes--literally--in a work that challenges the complicted issues surrounding patriotism, power, and duty in an era marked by an unpopular war and a dishonest government. Accompanied by a cast of seven dancers ... Simas Guthrie combines elements of theater, improvisation, and modern dance to explore both the personal and societal implications of being soldier, citizen, and/or artist. It's a protest dance of sorts, but subtle enough to transcend the limitations of current events and political ideology." --Caroline Palmer, City Pages

Choreography/Diretion by Rosy Simas. Visuals by Patrick Maun. Sound Engineer/Additional Sound/Props by Mark Ruark. Lighting by Debbie Tallen. Performed by: Josie Arrowsmith, Margot Bassett, Jennifer Mack, Deborah Jinza Thayer, Rosy Simas & Anna Resele. Performed to the music of Nine Inch Nails.

The January 2006 production of Have Gun Will Shoot was a co-presentation with the Red Eye Theater. Funding was provided in part by a grant from the Minnesota State Arts Board, through an appropriation by the Minnesota State Legislature, a grant from the National Endowment for the Arts and private funders. In 2005, a 20 minute work in progress of Have Gun Will Shoot (then Bonding and Defending ) was presented in the Best Feet Forward series sponsored by the Southern Theater.
