The studio will be open at 18h for pre class warming up.

Feedback on the first series of classes has inspired me to continue to offer classes before the jam... so let's go back to having the class. Yeah! A one hour class before the tuesday night jam. Explorations with Alignment Technique for contact improvisation dancing.

We will explore some basic principals of Alignment Technique to gather more strength, move with greater ease, and better support others, so we can grow as contact improvisation dancers. By accessing the deep structural level of our bodies, we can make clearer muscular and skeletal connections, increasing our ability to use and connect to the floor, allowing us to more efficiently share weight. We will work physically and organically, using our breath and mindfully *letting go* of superficial muscles to find more suppleness, fluidity and mobility for our partner and solo dancing.

This class is for ALL LEVELS and is not intended to be a beginning CI class but looks at how Alignment can support our CI dancing.

Rosy's approach to Alignment is based in her experience/training in re-education of the body with Barbara Mahler, Contemporary Dance, Contact Improvisation, Global Somatics™, and as a Massage/Shiatsu bodywork therapist.

I am talking to other teachers about the possibility of others applying their various techniques for a CI Jam warm up as well. Note I am offering my classes on a donation basis because I want the class to be affordable and I am new to Montréal. Other teachers will have other needs and may have been rooted in Montréal longer so may charge more.

Also, if another teacher decides they want to teach this summer I will be giving up time for them.
